electric buses launched, The first state-run electric bus service operations flagged off by the Advisor to the State Governor K Skandan in Jammu and Kashmir. The government will operate 40 electric buses on various routes in the state.
40 electric buses launched in Jammu and Kashmir
The electric buses are all electric which offers eco-friendly mobility. The electric buses have CCTV cameras and can run for a distance of around 150 km in a single charge.
Skandan said, “The government will initially operate 40 electric buses on different routes in the state.”
Charging infrastructure installation in various locations
The electric buses need to be charged, so charging infrastructure will be set up in various locations. He also says that e-buses are must to save the environment.
In India, public transport and fleet will be electrified first as in this electric vehicles runs on fix routes making it more easy for installing charging stations.
FAME-II scheme
After this, the personal vehicles will be focused to be electrified. As the government approved Rs 10,000 crore for the FAME-II scheme in March 2019, for supporting electric vehicles in the country.
The FAME-II scheme will focus mainly on public transport, commercial vehicles, and private electric car owners, two-wheelers and three-wheelers.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation
Recently, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has issued a tender to lease 1,500 e-buses.
Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation
Similarly, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is planning to buy 100 e-buses, which will be completely funded by the State government of India.
This way targeting Public transports may lead to reduce huge amounts of CO2 emissions from the air. As in India most of the people travel using public transports on regular bases.
