Elon Musk: Tesla to Launch 10 Robotaxis in First Week, Aiming for 1,000 Within Months

In a bold move toward redefining the future of transportation, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company will debut its highly anticipated robotaxi service next month, starting with a modest fleet of 10 vehicles. Musk revealed that this initial rollout is only the beginning, as Tesla plans to rapidly scale the program to 1,000 robotaxis within just a few months of launch.

“We’ll probably be at 1,000 robotaxis within a few months,” Musk stated, highlighting Tesla’s confidence in both its technology and production capabilities.

The robotaxi initiative marks Tesla’s most ambitious step yet toward a fully autonomous driving ecosystem. Unlike traditional ridesharing services, Tesla’s robotaxis will operate without human drivers, powered by the company’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. The vehicles will be designed specifically for autonomy, without a steering wheel or pedals, and optimized for safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Musk did not specify the exact cities where the robotaxis will first hit the streets, but he emphasized that the first 10 vehicles will serve as a tightly monitored pilot program. The limited initial launch will allow Tesla to collect real-world data, fine-tune its systems, and address any regulatory hurdles before expanding at scale.

Industry experts are watching closely, as Tesla’s success in launching a functional robotaxi fleet could have far-reaching implications for urban mobility, car ownership models, and the competitive landscape of autonomous vehicle development. While skepticism remains about the timeline and readiness of the technology, Musk remains characteristically optimistic.

“We’re entering a new era of transportation,” Musk said. “It’s not just about cars anymore — it’s about intelligent, sustainable mobility solutions.”

Tesla’s robotaxi plans were first teased years ago, but this latest announcement marks the clearest timeline yet. As anticipation builds, the world will soon witness whether Tesla can truly deliver on its vision of driverless ride-hailing — and how quickly it can scale to meet the demand.
