The West Bengal government has planned to phase out diesel taxis with electric one. For this it will provide a subsidy worth Rs 2.5 lakh to 1,000 diesel cabbies to replace their polluting diesel cabs with electric. This initiative by the government will reduce the CO2 levels in the city caused by the vehicles.
They have charging stations at every three kilometer area which will be enough to charge the e-cabs. The commuting cost is also very less when compared to the diesel one. If a cab runs for 200 km per day than the running cost will be Rs 2 per km which is 200 Rs for an e-cab whereas for a diesel cab, it burns Rs 966 for every 200 km.
We are giving Rs 1 lakh incentives for cab to shift to cleaner fuel and electric. The transport department would offer Rs 1.5 lakh additionally for such shift said the West Bengal Pollution Control Board chairman Kalyan Rudra.
Mumbai e-Auto Rickshaws will now be in Blue & white with green number plates
Mumbai also have taken initiative for electric three-wheeler that it will have a new body color white and blue with a green number plate to make it look different from those regular IC engine vehicles.
The hoods of e-rickshaws will be in white and the body will be painted in blue color. The number plates will have a green color background.
The State Transport Authority has approved the proposal for the new color scheme for the e-Auto rickshaws. The final proposal need to be approved from the state government which can be expected after the state assembly elections.
