Mahindra to launch Ford Aspire electric in 2021

Mahindra & Mahindra recently announced the launch of its three electric cars. Mahindra KUV100 EV, XUV300 EV, and electric badged Ford Aspire sedan. Of this electric KUV100 EV will launch at the end of this year. XUV300 will launch in next year and the Ford Aspire will launch in 2021.

It has signed an MoU with Ford last year in March, the agreement was made to manufacture two new SUVs midsized and compact for the Indian market. The partnership will share the technology and platforms, the Mahindra Electric will provide technology whereas the Ford will supply vehicles platforms.

The company has already announced that it will develop electric powertrains, battery packs, and power electronics.

The electric Aspire will be the first electric car for the partners. Ford allocated an investment of Rs 400 crore to Mahindra Electric for establishing a global Research & Development (R&D) center in Alur near Bangaluru in coming years.




The electric version of KUV100 and XUV300 SUV will be produced in the Mahindra’s Chakan Plant with an investment of Rs 500 crores.

At present, Mahindra has only one electric vehicle in its portfolio, e-Verito. It has discontinued the production of the E20 as it couldn’t meet the stringent safety norms. The three new electric will join the e-Verito currently is on sale.
