BMW’s upcoming iX SUV
German luxury automaker BMW is increasing the variants in its “i” series lineup. Until now most of the BMW electric cars available in the market are the electric versions of the BMW IC cars. But now BMW seems to increase its focus on the “i” lineup. After introducing the i3, BMW is planning to launch an SUV from the i series. So, let’s know more about the BMW’s upcoming iX SUV.
About BMW iX
BMW iX appears to be the combination of the automaker’s i series vision and the practicality of their X series. Even though this electric car has an SUV appearance, BMW likes to call it an SAV (Sports Activity vehicle®). BMW mentions that the production of iX will be at the Automaker’s Dingolfing plant which runs on 100% renewable energy.
It comes with a massive kidney-shaped grill in the front which is common for most of the upcoming BMWs. The car comes with a diffuser for improved Aero-Dynamics which helps in the reduction of drag co-efficient in this SUV design.
Interior
BMW claims that their electric SAV is an environmentally conscious vehicle in terms of both production and driving. The interior of this SAV uses olive leaf tanned leather, recycled plastic floor mats, etc.
Coming to the interior tech, iX has a customizable welcome for the person who enters the vehicle. To indicate the relevant information of the vehicle, iX comes with a curved display on the Dashboard. The iDrive 8.0 OS has an in-car personal assistant, Android Auto or Apple car play, Heads-up Display with improved Augmented reality, Remote software upgrade, etc.
Technical Overview
According to BMW’s claims, iX can offer a range of up to 480km for one single charge. The acceleration of 0-60 mph is possible in less than 5 seconds. The recharge time of the iX takes up to 11 hours with a home installed charger and the DC fast charging can recharge up to 120 km range in 10 min.
This upcoming BMW may be available soon for the global markets to compete with its existing and latest market rivals.
