But in our today’s review, we are about to discuss a topic that relates to an electric bus ride experience. Even though we didn’t drive the bus, we had a pleasant and silent ride experience. Apart from the pleasant ride experience, we had a lot to share about the electric bus. So, let’s proceed with the Olectra k9 e-bus review.

About Olectra k9

Olectra is an electric bus manufacturer which is a division of MEIL group. They have a partnership with the Chinese group BYD in which BYD supports olectra in terms of technology. Olectra manufactures different versions and categories of Electric buses in which k9 is the flagship bus.

Technical overview

The electric bus has a range of up to 300 km and the full recharge of the battery requires 4-5 hours. To charge this lithium phosphate battery pack an 80 KW 3-phase AC wall-mounted charger is available. Even though the top speed of the electric bus is up to 120kmph, the speed is electronically restricted to 70kmph. The bus has a monocoque chassis and is driven by an automatic transmission with two in-wheel motors. The bus can accelerate 0-30 kmph in less than 10.5 seconds and it also has features like regenerative braking.

Ride review

Overall, The bus offers a smooth and silent ride experience. According to the driver, the driving experience is comfortable because of auto transmission. He also mentions that the acceleration is better when compared to the Diesel engine buses. The digital information cluster indicates all the necessary parameters like range, charge percentage, etc. The bus has drive, neutral and reverse modes. The bus has safety features like short circuit protection, temperature protection, automatic battery fire extinguisher, battery cooling system, etc. The seating capacity is 40 including the driver and the bus can also assist the wheelchairs.
