BHEL To Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
India taking initiatives to keep the country pollution free by taking several steps, Government’s initiatives such as deploying 15 Electric Vehicles for the official use, ordering for allotment of 20% space in residential and commercial complexes, Launching of Electric buses in the city, one more initiative added up in the list is Government organisation BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd) to install electric vehicle charging stations on Delhi-Chandigarh Highway.

It is going to set up a solar-based electric vehicle chargers (SEVC) network on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway very soon.
The company said that “The establishment of EV chargers at regular intervals over the entire 250 km stretch between Delhi and Chandigarh would allay range-anxiety among the electric vehicle users and bolster their confidence for inter-city travel.”

India currently focusing on cutting down fuel consumption and reducing vehicular pollution. However, the charging infrastructure at every other place is challenging. BHEL announced that it will design, engineer, manufacture, supply and install the EV charging stations with a central monitoring system.
Charging Stations- Rooftop Solar Power Plant To Supply Green Energy
The SEVC charging station will have a rooftop solar power plant to supply green energy that can charge your EVs fast. It has not yet disclosed who will operate the charging stations or whether the EVs owners will be charged for using the facility.
The Project Covered Under The FAME Scheme
The project is covered under the FAME scheme (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India) of the Department of Heavy Industry (DM), Government of India,” it said.
BHEL is expanding its business in e-mobility. It has already installed DC chargers at Udyog Bhawan in New Delhi and will also start other commercial order for the installation of DC chargers all over the country.
BHEL Manufactures EV Chargers, Electric Buses And Other Components
The company has equipped with EV elements, they will be dealing with the manufacturing of EV chargers, electric buses and other EV related components.

As the government took an initiative ‘Make in India’ project, the company has undertaken the development of EV motors, propulsion systems and fast chargers.
