Electric Car Manufactures in India can count on fingertips, because only four electric car manufacturers are available in India and only two of them doing production. It’s a bitter fact that only Mahindra electric cars are available for public ownership in Indian market. However, this number can change into double digits by the end of 2019.

Mahindra E2O plus is the first electric car launched in India, till date the E2O plus is the top-selling electric car in India. Have a look at the available electric car manufacturers in India 2018.

Mahindra is a well-known name in the Automobile Industry and famous for electric vehicles manufacturers in India. Mahindra E20 Plus and Mahindra eVerito electric cars are available for public ownership.

Mahindra launches different variants in EVs like electric car, electric van, and electric auto. Mahindra eSupro, Mahindra eAlfa Mini and Mahindra Trio are some of the EV variants.

Tata Motors

Tata motors Tigor EV and Tiago EV electric cars are rolling on Indian roads, but not available for public ownership, a limited production of these electric cars are distributed to government offices under the EESL 10,000 cars agreement. We can expect these cars to public ownership in 2019.

One of the most trusted automobile companies in India, Maruthi Suzuki has its own electric car manufacturing unit in Gurgaon. The company testing its electric car prototype Electric Wagon R which was launched earlier at the MOVE summit in September,2018. Maruthi electric car is expected to launch in 2020.

Kia Motors India

For the first time in India, a foreign Electric Car manufacturer started its own plant in Andhra Pradesh. Kia Motors electric cars plant is under construction in Ananthapur District, they are planning to launch its first electric car in India by 2020. Kia Soul EV is the first electric car to launch from Ananthapur in 2020.

Some of the top automobile manufacturers like Hyundai and Porsche are planning to launch their electric cars in India, but they don’t have an EV manufacturing unit here. Hriman Motors is a start-up company in India which have plans to start its manufacturing very soon. As a final word, I can say that 2019 is a crucial year for EVs in India
