TVS Racing Electric One-Make Championship is the first electric two-wheeler race in India
TVS Motor Company launched the TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC), marking the first electric two-wheeler racing competition in India. With this move, TVS has become a pioneer among Indian manufacturers entering the electric motorcycle racing sector. For this exciting new championship, TVS has developed special Apache RTE motorcycles.
The TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship will make its debut in round 4 of the Indian National Motorcycle Road Racing Championship (INMRC). In the opening round of the championship, eight handpicked riders will take to the track, riding specially designed TVS Apache RTE racing motorcycles created specifically for the event.
On the motorcycle front, TVS claims that the Apache RTE is all set to set a new benchmark for electric racing in India. These bikes offer the highest power-to-weight ratio in the segment, with liquid-cooled motors and efficient liquid-cooled engine controls.
It is known that TVS uses an advanced high-power battery with advanced chemistry technology, encased in a carbon fiber battery case that also serves as a structural component of the chassis. In addition, the (BMS) has been custom-designed with specialized racing algorithms.
As reports coming out say the suspension is handled by Ohlins at the front and rear. Braking duties are handled by 320mm discs at the front and a matching disc at the rear, with the caliper and master cylinder sourced from Brembo. TVS has chosen Pirelli’s Super Corsa tires. In addition, the fairing is made from lightweight carbon fiber, ensuring the lowest drag coefficient in the segment.
According to TVS Motor Company’s Managing Director, Sudarshan Venu stated that TVS Motor has been winning racing ever since they launched the first factory racing team in India. TVS Racing is instrumental in making motorsport aspirational yet accessible to enthusiasts across the country. Many of the technologies they developed in their racing machines have been incorporated into their production vehicles, forming their “racetrack” philosophy.
He additionally stated that in line with their vision to provide exciting and sustainable mobility solutions, they are pleased to announce the launch of India’s first electric two-wheeler rally. The TVS Racing e-OMC will not only set new benchmarks in segment racing but will also demonstrate the potential of electric vehicles in delivering exciting, high-octane racing experiences to the world.
