Okinawa electric motorcycle to launch at Auto Expo 2020




One of the leading and well known electric two-wheelers manufacturer, Okinawa Autotech Pvt.Ltd has recently announced that they have a new electric motorcycle in its pipeline. The company’s new electric motorcycle will come with a removable Li-ion battery and will compete with the Revolt’s Motorcycle and also with the upcoming Tork electric motorcycle in the Indian market.

The founder of the company, Jeetendra Sharma said that the motorcycle is coming to an Okinawa showroom near at the end of this year. It is also expected to launch at the Auto Expo and is expected to be priced below Rs 1 lakh.

The technical specifications are not yet out but we can expect a detachable, swappable li-ion battery and the range will be 150 km. The top speed of the bike will be 100kmph. The bike will also support fast charging.

Talking about its appearance, it looks similar to a petrol-powered bike, therefore people will accept it easily but the chassis will be new and according to Jeetender “robust in design.”Company will manufacture the electric motorcycle in its Bhiwadi facility as its all scooters are manufactured there.

About the company sales, it sold 45,000 units last year and this year the sales are expected to 75,000 units. Currently, the highest-selling scooter for Okinawa is the Ridge+ and after that Praise Pro.




Till now, the financial institutions have invested Rs 100 crore for the company. The investment was spent into setting up the factory, R&D, product development, sales and marketing.

Okinawa is focusing on reducing the battery weight, as it is swappble it should be more convenient for the people to carry it. The company is into talks with the local battery makers to get some solution.

Talking about the service of an electric vehicle, the company have over 300 dealerships in India with the service facility and at the end of the year, it is likely to increase to 450. The first service of the vehicles happens at 400-500 km or within 40-50 days whichever is earlier and second 1,500-2,000 km or within 100-110 days thereafter.
