Maruti Suzuki will launch the WagonR Electric hatchback in 2020. The testing for the car is already started on the roads of India with a batch of 50 units. The executive director of sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki, Shashank Srivastava confirmed about the development.

This car will be the latest variant of the hatchback which was launched in this year in the brand new platform. It is already available with petrol and CNG-Petrol. The LPG variant of this car will be made available in various parts of India.
The company will launch EV in 2020 and at present, it has 50 EVs which are been tested all over India. He said we they are not sure about the demand for the products as it depends on the cost of the battery which is expensive in EV.

The price of the EV can be expected high and Indian market is sensitive regarding price and they will see, how the demand goes.
It will cost around Rs. 10 lakhs or more and gives a range of 150 kilometers in a single charge. This will be a city car mostly usable by the city commuters and cab operators who have generally sufficient time to recharge the car during the day.
Already many have included EVs such as Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor Electric compact sedans into their fleets in huge. Still, there is range anxiety in electric cars.
The cars that can offer a range of 250-300 km per charge will be accepted by the people both for public and private use.
The Maruti WagonR EV will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2020, the company started working on its second EV project for India.
Maruti Ertiga Electric
According to the Livemint report, the Suzuki Motor Corporation’s engineers have selected the Ertiga compact MPV for the second project in India.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited is an automobile manufacturer in India subsidiary of the Japanese car and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation reports that this compact electric will be for both private customers and commercial operators.
It is not yet confirmed that Toyota will be part of the development. It is expected to have a high level of local content.
