Madhya Pradesh Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2019
To promote the use of electric mobility and avail subsidy provided by the Government of India under its FAME II Scheme, the State’s cabinet has approved Madhya Pradesh electric vehicle policy 2019. So let us know about the Madhya Pradesh Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2019.
About Madhya Pradesh (MP)
Madhya Pradesh is the second-largest state of India which covers almost 9.5% of the area and has 6% of the country’s total population. The transportation needs of the state are catered by 4,709k of National Highways, 10,859 km of state highways, 19,574km of major district roads and 24,209km of rural roads.

Highlights
- This EV Policy will remain valid for 5 years from the date of notification.
- It will apply mainly to the battery electric vehicles (EV) and mild hybrid, strong hybrid and plug-in-hybrid EVs will not be targeted by this policy.
Objectives
- To promote sustainable electric mobility and bring material improvement in MP air quality by reducing emissions from the transport sector.
- Looks for rapid adoption of EVs and contributes to 25% of al new public transport vehicle registrations by 2026.
- Enable faster adoption of EVs in MP by ensuring safe, reliable and affordable charging infrastructure eco-system.
- Promoting renewable energy usage in charging infrastructure.
- Supports to create jobs in various fields such as driving, selling, financing, servicing, charging and manufacturing of EVs.

Electric Vehicle categories come under incentives
The following are the categories of electric vehicles that can get incentives on purchase. The categories such as
- Two-wheelers
- Shared E-Rickshaws
- Auto Rickshaws
- Goods Carriers (3 Wheeler)
- Electric Car
- Buses
- Other Vehicles
Two-wheelers incentives
- Road tax/vehicle registration fees exemption/reimbursement for 5 years only.
- 100% wavier on parking chargers at any Municipal corporation run parking facility for 5 years only.
Shared E-rickshaws incentives
- Permit of all-electric shared rickshaws will provide free of cost.
- Express route permissions on a first come, first serve basis.
- All shared e-rickshaws exempted/reimbursed from road tax/ vehicle registration fees for 5 years only.
- 100% wavier on parking chargers at any Municipal corporation run parking facility for 5 years only.
Electric auto-rickshaws incentives
- The open permit system will apply to approved e-autos.
- Free of cost permit for all e-autos.
- The purchaser gets express permission to run the e-autos.
- Some cities will be stoped to register new ICE autos.
- Electric Auto-Rickshaw will be exempted/reimbursed from road tax/ vehicle registration fees for 5 years only.
- 100% rebate on parking costs at any Municipal corporation run parking facility for 5 years only.
Goods carriers ( 3 Wheeler) incentives
- Permit for all-electric three-wheeler goods Carrier will be provided free of cost.
- Exempted/reimbursed from road tax/ vehicle registration fees for 5 years only.
- 100% wavier on parking chargers at any Municipal corporation run parking facility for 5 years only.
Electric car incentives
- All-electric cars exempted/reimbursed from road tax/ vehicle registration fees for 5 years only.
- 100% waiver on parking charges at any state-run parking facility for 5 years only.
Electric buses incentives
- All-electric buses exempted/reimbursed from road tax/ vehicle registration fees for 5 years only.
- Provided express permits and charges will be exempted for 5 years.
50% rebate on toll taxes in the state for 5 years.
Other Vehicles
Road tax, registration fees and municipal Corporations parking fees will be waived for all other EVs that are eligible under FAME India demand incentives. This will be applicable from 2019 to 2023.
Charging Infrastructure
Public charging stations shall have one or more electric kiosk/boards with the installation of all the chargers mentioned here.
Public charging stations providers are free to create charging hubs and to install an additional number of Kiosks/chargers in addition to the minimum number of chargers prescribed above along with the battery swapping facility.
