Electric cars this year are making their ways on roads of India right from the beginning of the year. Currently, there are three electric cars such as MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Kona, Tigor EV and Mahindra eVerito. Mercedes Benz EQC has been added yesterday in the list. So let us now compare the specifications of Mercedes-Benz EQC & Hyundai Kona. 

The all-electric luxury SUV Mercedes-Benz EQC has officially launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 99.30 lakh. This is the first product under the brand Mercedes-Benz EQ which is available in six cities in phase 1-Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The luxury electric SUV is powered by an 80 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 445-471 km on a single charge. The company claims that the EQC has a power consumption of 20.8-19.7 kWh/100 km.

Comparison of Tata Nexon, MG ZS & Hyundai Kona

Before the launch of the EQC, the most expensive electric vehicle was the Hyundai Kona Electric which is priced at sub 25 lakh mark and the MG ZS EV comes with Rs 23,58,000 for its exclusive version.

So, let us now compare both the electric cars launched in India.

Mercedes-Benz EQC & Hyundai Kona comparisons 


The luxury all-electric SUV Mercedes Benz EQC has priced at Rs 99.30 lakh and the Hyundai Kona Electric is priced at Rs 23.72 Lakh.


While talking about their range the Hyundai Kona electric version provides a range of 452 Km on a full charge. Whereas, the Mercedes-Benz EQC provides a range of 445 to 471 km on a single charge.


Mercedes-Benz EQC is equipped with a powerful battery of 80 kWh lithium-ion battery and Kona comes with a battery pack of 39.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.


The Mercedes-Benz EQC comes with a power of 408hp and Hyundai Kona comes with 136 PS.


Mercedes-Benz EQC can accelerate 0-100 km/hr in 5.1 seconds and Kona Electric accelerates 0-100km/h in 9.7 secs.

Top speed

Mercedes-Benz EQC top speed is 180 km/h and Hyundai Kona Electric’s top speed is 167km/h. 

Charging time

The EQC can be charged in around 11 hours and its fast charging time is 90 minutes. The Hyundai Kona takes 6 hours 10 mins to charge fully and with DC fast charging it charges 0-80% in 57 mins.


The EQC produces a 765 Nm of torque whereas the Kona Electric gives a torque of 395 NM.

So, finally, the Mercedes Benz has launched its luxury electric SUV in India at a price of Rs 99.30 lakh. People those were waiting for this kind of electric luxury SUV will definitely go for this SUV in India as the company has provided some powerful specifications in terms of battery, motor, etc. 

However, Hyundai Kona Electric will be most preferable as the affordable and longest range electric SUV in India as it can be affordable by anyone.
