Delhi based EV mobility start-up, Blu Smart has announced its plans to increase its fleet, Blu Smart Electric Cabs in Mumbai. The company also planning to launch the app in Mumbai by early next year. The fixed-fare for travel via a fully-electric sedan is Rs 12/km.

Blu Smart, India’s first 100 percent electric taxi service was launched early this year in the Delhi-NCR region. Currently, it has 345 cars operating in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai, with 26 of those considered for in Mumbai alone. Now the company is planning to increase its fleet in Mumbai by January 2020.  

We can currently book Blu Smart cabs in the Delhi-NCR region through the dedicated app, available on both Apple/Android smartphones. The rides are not affected by demand, or surge pricing, unlike with other taxi aggregators.

The fixed-fare for travel via a fully-electric sedan is Rs 12/km, which makes it equal with other services. At present, the fleet covers an average of 80 km per day.

Blu Smart also plans to launch the app in Mumbai by early next year. The company claims that drivers will not be able to cancel rides once booked. The Blu Smart Hub fast-charging station in Andheri East can provide charging up to 200 cars. They are in plans to add more charging stations in near future.

As a part of their plan to increase its fleet to 500 by March 2020 and further to 1,200 by the end of the next year, Blu Smart has also received Mahindra eVeritos and Tata Tigor EVs on lease from state-owned EESL. Blu Smart has also received angel funding of Rs 21 crore recently from the Gensol Group, an advisory in the solar power industry.
