TN EV Policy attracted 2 EVs firms

A week ago Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced the Electric Vehicle Policy 2019 for Tamil Nadu which is to attract 50,000 crore investment and 1.5 lakh new jobs, incentives, investment subsidy and waived of various taxes and duties.

The launch of EV policy has managed to attract the two foreign firms, Japanese-based MAHLE Electric Drives India and Korea’s Younghwa TEch is a motor manufacturer for electric vehicles.

MAHLE is very much interested to set up a unit at RKG Industrial Estate in Coimbatore and Younghwa in SIPCOT industrial park near Chennai.

Tamil Nadu government signed MoUs across the sectors for Rs 7,000 crore investment from auto components to energy, IT to textiles.

EV-Himachal Pradesh drafting EV policy

The Himachal Pradesh government earlier this week announced that it is working on a draft electric vehicle policy with the aim to have 100% shift to electric vehicles by 2030.

The policy is said to propose incentives to EV batteries and related components manufacturers and disposals in the state. “The incentives shall be provided to eligible enterprises as per Himachal Pradesh Industrial Policy as applicable from time to time,” the state’s official release added.

The chief secretary of the State Dr.Shrikant Baldi said that The policy’s objective is to protect the environment, increase the demand for electric vehicles and to promote sustainable transport system and to create the public and private charging infrastructure.

To support and promote the use of EVs in the country several governments such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh,  Telangana, and Delhi has come up with the EV policies and soon Himachal Pradesh too will have their EV policy.
