Few automakers have also not stayed behind, even they had taken the risk of manufacturing the EVs in the country. In spite of a lot of hurdles coming in between such as lack of charging infrastructure, cost, range anxiety of customers, etc. The strong commitment of government and few automakers brought the EV journey till here.

Government efforts to bring in EVs in the country

Right from the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) in 2012 established for the promotion of EVs and hybrid vehicles. After the FAME Scheme established in 2015 and is continuing still and is in its second phase promoting and encouraging the Electric and Hybrid vehicles in the country.

The cars are from the popular Indian companies Mahindra and Tata’s Mahindra e-Verito and the Tata Tigor EV.
