Walmart, an American multinational retail corporation, partnered with Electrify America for the installation and operation of the chargers. It aims to become the largest retail host for chargers in the country.
Electrify America partnered to install 120 EV charging stations
Electrify America COO Brendan Jones said, “This milestone marks an important moment in the expansion of our charging station network.”
“We look forward to continuing our work with Walmart to make electric vehicle charging faster and more convenient for consumers across the country, and in turn, encourage more adoption of zero-emissions vehicles.”
EV chargers located in 34 States
The EV chargers are located at stores in 34 States mostly on the off highways. More charging stations is been planned for major metro areas.
DC Fast Chargers chargers up to 20 miles
The EV charging stations are DC Fast Chargers and can power up the EV up to 20 miles of range per minute. There’s also a 150-kilowatt charger.
These chargers are mostly available for east and west urban areas. But it also offers the EV owners access to rural communities and driving routes.
California will get EV charging stations in the second phase
The second phase of EV charging station installation will add more 12 States includes California which is the United States’ largest EV market.
Electrify America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America, will invest $2 billion over the next decade in EV infrastructure and education. They planned for more than 2,000 chargers across 484 sites to install in 17 metropolitan areas.
