The German OEM Volkswagen (VW) prototype electric ID.R is an electric-powered prototype named as the ID R Pikes Peak. It is extremely fast performance model designed for racing, Volkswagen I.D. R electric car.

The VW opted to use the new Silk Road rail route to China to transport its ID.R car for a motoring challenge in Tianmen. The company for the first time in more than 50 years of VW Motorsport racing business has been taken place by train rather an aeroplane as it is partly intended to show how environmentally friendly electric driving is.
The prototype electric ID.R car boasts the aerodynamic styling cues that have a large front splitter and a central fin that extends the right to the rear and helps the rear wing and multi-channel diffuser element.

The Volkswagen I.D. R features two electric motors, located at each axle, allowing for a combined 507 kW 689 PS (680 hp) and 649 N⋅m (479 lb-ft) of torque. The I.D. R weighs under 1,100 kg (2,500 lb) and has a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) time of 2.25 seconds. The Chassis of the car was co-developed by Norma, French Sports Prototype and Hillclimb specialist.
The all-electric ID. R was able to complete the Nordschleife lap in just 6:05.336 minutes with driver Romain Dumas behind the wheel. The electric race car had set a track record at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb during the festival of Speed in England.
