Valeo unveils automatic e-bike transmission

A French global automotive supplier Valeo has unveiled a new intelligent system “Valeo Smart e-Bikes system” for electric bikes that includes an innovative adaptive automatic transmission. Many manufacturers will be able to use this automatic transmission in their upcoming electric bike models by 2022. The Valeo Smart e-Bikes system. The Valeo Smart e-Bikes system is been developed with French manufacturer Effigear, it combines a single module, a 48V electric motor combined with an adaptive seven-speed automatic transmission. It provides a torque of 130 Nm and the company claims that this is the best electric assistance for bikes available in the market.

It does also have a regenerative braking system depending on the bike version. It has a dashboard displaying speed, gear and battery level, assistance mode for manoeuvring, an anti-theft device equipped in the pedal assembly. The company has also said that several manufacturers have already announced their orders for this technology. The company has built three Smart e-bike systems for city, mountain and cargo bikes.

Harley Davidson vintage style e-bike to go on sale this year 

In another e-bikes update, a  famous brand for electric two-wheelers, Harley Davidson has planned to sell a number of units of the vintage style electric bike and its model S1 Mosh/Tribute e-bike will be limitedly produced, only 650 units through Harley’s electric bike company Serial 1. The sales of these e-bikes are scheduled for later this year. Half of the model units will be available for purchase in the US and half will be in Europe. It has started its pre-bookings for the model.

The key elements of this e-bike include a leather saddle and grips, white tyres and brown drive belt, brass accents and glossy paint. The company’s product manager Aaron Frank said in a statement that “The S1 Mosh/Tribute will serve as a springboard to launch our S1 Series that will see even more exclusive and highly-desirable Serial 1 eBike models in the future.”
