UP invites Eols for EV

UP invites for Eols for EV charging stations installations from various companies. It is the first State to come forward after the Union power ministry issued the guidelines for EV charging stations in December 2018.

The step had been taken for the promotion of electric autorickshaws. Currently, Delhi is the only city which got approval for setting up the 131 public charging stations.

Besides this, the private companies such as Magenta Power is working for the EV charging stations for Mumbai-Pune highway.

Tender invites Eols, opens till  28th June

The tender inviting the Eols (expressions of interest) was issued on 6th June and will open till 28th June. The invitation focuses on the cities across the State covering major expressways and national highways that pass by the State.

India, to achieve its goals is striving and taking every possible step to bring in the EVs and EV infrastructure in the country.

Union Cabinet approved 10,000 crores For EVs 

Recently, the Union Cabinet approved 10,000 crores under the second phase of FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) which will last till 31st March 2022 for the promotion of electric and hybrid vehicles through FAME II. The incentives are provided to EVs under this scheme.

Delhi draft policy 

Last year, Delhi had released a draft policy which said that it will have 25 percent of Electric vehicles in Delhi and it will provide incentives, Install charging infrastructure both public and private.




Eol document- UP identified eight cities

According to the Eol document, the UP identified eight cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Noida, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad and Meerut. And wants them on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the Delhi-Agra Expressway, and the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.

National highways will have EV charging stations 

The other that is in construction Purvanchal Expressway from Lucknow to Ballia. The list also includes the national highways which pass through the State is NH-1, 24 and 27.

Charging at homes or offices

The Eol also said that Charging at homes or offices will be given permission through electricity distribution companies.

“The vast infrastructure and utilities needed to charge electric vehicles (EVs) hold the keys to accelerating their deployment,” 

“The setting up of electricity charging infrastructure can accelerate the growth of electric vehicles and thus address the menacing problem of air and noise pollution.”

Reason for the promotion of EVs

The reason behind this step is to promote affordable tariffs, it creates employment and income opportunities in the country.
