The First e-vehicle from MG Motor
One of the renowned automobile manufacturers SAIC’S India subsidiary MG Motor is planning to make a replica of the sales dream run of its SUV Hector with its first electric car, ZS EV. They will launch it in December. MG Motor faces various challenges like high input cost, lack of charging infrastructure and chances of acceptance in the Indian market in launching the first e-vehicle.

Although, as the government slashed the GST on Electric vehicles from 12 to 5 percent, it will help the company to reduce the price of the car which is guessed to be in the range of 25 lakhs. So, in this critical situation, to grab the attention, MG Motor decided to produce limited cars before its official launch.
Producing a limited number of cars before its official launch for selected customers
“A limited number of MG ZS EV cars could be made available to the selected customers to try out and experience it before the official launch. We will be doing this as a part of the awareness program. We are still chalking out the details,” MG Motor India’s MD, Chaba said. He didn’t reveal much of its details.
Besides this, by the month of October, they are planning to arrange some fast-charging equipment at the selected locations.
“We have tied up with leading EV charging players like Fortum to deploy 50 KW fast-charging stations across selected locations by October this year,” Chaba said.
Recently, the company’s first product in India, SUV Hector, was sold out with 28,000 bookings this year. The company is planning to increase the production of the SUV Hector to 3,000 units per month by September.
At present, MG Motor, a British carmaker, is now owned by SAIC. The company’s India subsidiary has initiated its manufacturing operations at its plant at Halol, Gujarat.
Isn’t the time will favor the MG Motor? Will ZS EV win the hearts of people? Let’s wait for some more time to know what will going to happen.
