Tata Motors To Supply 40 Electric Buses To Lucknow City

As the Government took an initiative for the development of electric vehicles for the people to experience the Eco-friendly public transportation facilities everyday. Recently Tata Motors has received the orders from STU’s (State Transport Undertakings) of Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Jammu, Assam, and Jaipur. Out of 6 cities, Tata Motors to launch 40 Electric Buses in Lucknow.

Tata Motors To Supply 40 Electric Buses – Ultra 9m AC





The company launched its first electric bus, Ultra 9m AC on Sunday in the Lucknow city by Suresh Kumar Khanna, the Uttar Pradesh Urban Development minister, along with officials from LCTSL and Tata Motors.

Tata Motors vice president and head (buses) said, “We have made a huge investment in the development and design of our electric buses, which is an indigenous product and conforms to our ‘Made in India’ commitment.”

Tata Motors Manufactured Ultra 9m AC In Dharwad, Karnataka

The vehicles manufactured in Dharwad in Karnataka, “We would definitely like to explore the export market for our electric buses, especially the SAARC region,” he added.

The Ultra 9m AC electric buses are manufactured at Tata and Tata Marcopolo Dharwad plants. With the range of 150 km on a single charge. The liquid-cooled, lithium-ion batteries are kept at the rooftop to prevent it from water logging. There is also a fast charging station set up by the company at Alambagh depot to charge the electric buses.

Head Engineering (Electric & Defence), CVBU, Tata Motors Said

Dr. A K Jindal, head engineering (Electric & Defence), CVBU, Tata Motors said, “Tata Motors has been engaging in advanced engineering and development of electric traction system for hybrid as well as pure electric vehicles for over a decade. The Ultra Electric Bus is a new modular platform which has been developed in a very short lead time of less than a year, leveraging the knowledge and experience we have gained and demonstrating our commitment to the government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan for Public Transport.”





“The architecture of the platform has been conceived and developed by an in-house engineering team of Tata Motors, meeting the requirement of various tenders floated by different state transport undertakings. The exterior has been designed with a new brand identity that includes stylized Ultra headlamps and streamlined looks. The vehicle architecture ensures very low energy consumption and lows TCO (total cost of operation) apart from being a zero-emission environment-friendly bus.”

Features Of Ultra 9m AC

The features of Ultra 9m Ac bus is Air-conditioned,Modern interiors Comfortable seats for 31 passengers, Air suspension for both front and rear axles. With the integrated electric motor generator power of 333HP can deliver 197HP continuously ensuring effortless driving.

The company currently have 51%-52% market share of the commercial vehicles space in India and want to continue their market share for the EVs category also.
