Tata Motors to launch 4 EVs in next 18 months

Tata Motors to launch 4 electric vehicles in 12-18 months. The Tata Motors Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that we will have five electric vehicles in the market in the next 12-18 months. The electric vehicles including Tigor, electric Nexon, electric Altroz a new Tigor and one more vehicle.

The company has the only electric model on sale that is Tigor which gives a range of about 140kms in a full charge. He said that the improvised version of the sedan with other company’s model has the capacity to run for 180-250kms on a full charge.

Along with the three companies, Tata Motors, Tata Chemicals, and Tata Power if more investment is a need there is the possibility for the Tata sons to join in.

“Tiago is selling well at around 8,000-9,000 in a month. We need something bigger than that which can get us 10,000 a month volume. We need 2-3 nameplates of high volume whether it comes from EV or IC engine cars it does not matter,” he said.

The launch of these electric versions Nexon, Altroz hatchback, more powerful iteration of the Tigor EV and fourth undisclosed model will bring the revolution in India and in the EV industry.

However, the Tata Nexon EV will get a lithium-ion battery pack with the AC and DC fast-charge options and may also use the similar battery with the Altroz EV.

Altroz EV will have a range of 250-300km on a full charge and it charges up to 80% in just 60 min using the DC fast charging.

The price of both models can be expected to cost more than 10 lakh and Nexon EV will be costlier than the Altroz as hinted by the Tata Motors executives.
