The state government said that the Korean automobile company Hyundai plans its Chennai facility will help make Tamil Nadu as the first state to manufacture electric cars in India.

Minister for industries, M C Sampath said that the state is planning to attract the companies who are leaving out of China after the country’s trade dispute with the United States.

Sampath in the state Assembly said that the Hyundai is working on electric cars for India as well as for the global markets using the Chennai facility. He said that we want to make the state an EV manufacturing hub.

Tamil Nadu Industries Development Corporation (TIDCO)

The government’s agency, Tamil Nadu Industries Development Corporation (TIDCO) is finding a consultant who can prepare a report on the development of greenfield airport near Chennai which is the second airport in the city. 

State aiming to attract Rs 10,000 crore

The state is aiming to attract Rs 10,000 crore for the defense sector for 5 years. As the state ranks 3rd in the industrial sector for the amount of interest capital invested Rs 4.02 lakh crore, after Gujarat Rs 8.14 lakh crore and Maharashtra Rs 5.02 lakh crore.

The State ranks third in Industrial output with Rs 7.66 lakh crore after that Gujarat Rs 12.22 lakh crore and Maharashtra for Rs 10.74 lakh crore.

Tamil Nadu has 37,220 factories

Tamil Nadu has 37,220 factories most in India and Maharashtra have 27,010 units and Gujarat counts the 25,966 units he says.

Around 24.08 lakh persons work in the factory sector, this is the highest rate in India. It can be counted as 25% higher than the next state Maharashtra.
