PLI scheme for manufacturing capability & enhancing exports of hybrid & EVs 

Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes being implemented to enhance India’s Manufacturing Capabilities and Enhancing Exports of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Ministry of Power, Government of India has already advised all the Ministries and the State Governments to join the Government of India’s initiative on transformative electric mobility and advise their respective Departments to shift their fleet of official vehicles from the present Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) based Vehicles to Electric Vehicles

Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme for promotion of adoption of electric/hybrid vehicles in India is being administered by the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Further, two Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes [Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) & Automobiles & Auto Components] are being implemented by the Ministry of Heavy Industries to enhance India’s Manufacturing Capabilities and Enhancing Exports.

Under the Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles-Revised Guidelines and Standards issued by the Ministry of Power on 01.10.2019, a phase-wise installation of Public Charging Stations has been envisaged as below:

Phase I

All Mega Cities with a population of 4 million-plus as per census 2011, all existing expressways connected to these Mega-Cities & important Highways connected with each of these Mega Cities may be taken up for coverage.

Phase II

Big cities like State Capitals, UT headquarters may also be covered for distributed and demonstrative effect. Further, important Highways connected with each of these Mega Cities may be taken up for coverage.

Under Phase I of the FAME India Scheme Projects, 520 charging stations have been sanctioned in cities like Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur and NCR of Delhi and major highways such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Agra etc. Out of these 520 charging stations, 447 charging stations have been installed.

Under Phase II of the FAME India Scheme, the Government of India has also sanctioned 2877 charging stations in 68 cities across 25 States/UTs. Letters of Award are issued to the selected entities after ensuring the availability of land for Charging Stations, signing of necessary agreements/MoU with concerned partner organizations like city municipal corporation/DISCOM/ Oil Companies etc. Letters of award for 1797 Charging Stations have been issued as of 12th Nov 2021. In addition, the Government of India have also sanctioned 1576 charging stations across 16 expressways and 9 highways and issued letters of award to selected entities accordingly.

Maintenance and upkeep of the charging stations are ensured by the entity installing such charging stations.
