Piaggio launched Ape’ E-City in Delhi today. Ape’ E-City is the first product under the company Ape’ Electrik. Ape’ E-City is the first 3-wheeler which have smart swappable batteries, that are provided by Sun Mobility. The company will also provide a network of quick interchange stations, which will allow the electric three-wheeler drivers to swap their batteries in under 2 minutes.

Finally today, Piaggio Vehicles, the Indian arm of the Italian automaker, made its entry into the electric vehicle segment with the launch of its electric three-wheeler Ape’ E-City. Ape’ E-City is the first product under the company Ape’ Electrik which will have full range of electric vehicles across various categories.

The new Ape’ E-City comprises of advanced Li-ion batteries, automatic gearbox, doors for safety and full digital cluster. It has no gear and clutch and its motor provides superior power and torque. Like most of the previous Ape models, the upcoming Piaggio Ape Electrik is also likely to serve both goods and passenger carrier segments.

Ape’ E-City is the first 3-wheeler which have smart swappable batteries. The swappable battery concept has brought in association with Sun mobility. Last month, Piaggio Vehicles signed a strategic partnership with Sun Mobility to launch its electric commercial vehicle range with swappable battery technology.

The company will also provide a network of quick interchange stations, which will allow the electric three-wheeler drivers to swap their batteries in under 2 minutes. Thereby, Piaggio will effectively address concerns around range limitations and long refueling time.
