Ola partners Siemens to set up India’s most advanced EV manufacturing plant
Ola and Siemens have made an announcement that both the companies are collaborating to set up India’s most advanced electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. Ola signed an agreement to invest Rs 2,400 crore with the Tamil Nadu government.
The completion of the factory will create almost 10,000 employment opportunities. It will be the world’s largest scooter manufacturing facility that will have an annual capacity of 2 million units at the initial stages. There will be around 5,000 robots will be deployed across various functions.
“Ola’s factory will be built on Industry 4.0 principles and will be the most advanced manufacturing facility in the country. It will have almost 5,000 robots deployed across various functions,” a statement said.

Bhavish Aggarwal, chairman and group CEO, Ola, said, “This will be our global hub and will set a benchmark in quality, scale and efficiency, demonstrating India’s capability to build world-class cutting edge products. Ola last month also made an announcement that it is investing Rs 2,400 crore to set up its first manufacturing plant for electric vehicles in Tamil Nadu.
The company will roll out its scooters in India, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand among other places by the first quarter of 2021. SoftBank Group-backed Ola is scouting for a location to build a 2 million-unit-a-year electric scooter manufacturing plant in India. The company aims to sell at least a million scooters in the first year of operation.
