Comet EV pre-orders are open with tracking and a buyback program
99-year-old British automotive brand MG Motor India today unveiled a smart electric vehicle, the MG Comet EV. This vehicle heralds an exciting chapter in India’s urban mobility solutions. Based on the GSEV platform, the versatile PureEV has a minimalist yet spacious design with inherent agility. This enables smooth and stress-free commuting in the city. The Comet EV is the second electric vehicle in MG Motor India’s portfolio and features futuristic and easy-to-use smart technology. Smart EV – MG Comet is available at a special introductory price of Rs. Rs.7,98000/- (old showroom).
Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director of MG Motor India, said of the opportunity: “The Comet EV is more than just a car. It represents our determination to change commute habits. The Comet EV is based on the fastest all-electric GSEV platform to reach one million EV sales worldwide. MG understands that mobility’s future is electric and connected. The Comet EV allows customers to make smart choices without compromising on style or comfort. We aim to do that,” he added.
Intelligent design
The MG Comet EV represents the future of technology. Developed according to BICO’s concept of “Big Inside, Compact Outside”, the Comet EV offers plenty of space and more legroom and headroom. The Curved Tech Body line accentuates the aerodynamic and stylish side of the Comet EV from the outside. The Comet EV adopts a futuristic rearview mirror design with a floating motif. Windows in the second-row passenger compartment enhance Comet EV visibility.
The MG Comet EV’s cabin is comfortable and spacious, with seating capacity in 50-seat and four-seat configurations.
The second row seats are 50. Modern-style cabin space is combined with smart, feature-rich technology configurations to support the comfort and interactive aspects of this modern urban EV. The Comet EV’s multi-function, uniquely designed steering is combined with intelligent technology and futuristic pod-like controls to give the EV the feel of a modern gadget. The Rotary Gear Selector is a gear control with a chrome ring and a futuristic rotary knob decorated in an exclusive pattern. In addition, the center console is equipped with convenient functions such as power window buttons and a 12V charging port.
Intelligent electrical package
The Comet EV has a certified battery range of approximately 230 km on a single charge. The Comet EV is a market leader, but also an urban commuter. It offers practical features such as easy to drive, easy to operate, easy to park, easy to charge, and a wallet-friendly formulation. It is also a significant and modern product for Indian electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts.
Smart tech
The Intelligent Tech Dashboard enhances the MG Comet EV. The integrated iSmart system has over 55 connected car functions and over 100 voice commands. It features a floating twin display widescreen with a 10.25-inch main unit and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. In addition, the entertainment system has a fully customizable widget with three pages, giving customers access to a variety of entertainment and connectivity options. Another unique feature of the MG Comet EV is the smart key. The key’s attractive and stylish design further enhances the Comet EV’s high-tech feel. (Digital key is part of i-Smart and not linked to smart key).
Save smart
Savings are significant for young urban commuters. The Comet EV is rated by MG and offers a promising and strong charging cost of Rs 519 per 1,000km.
Smart security
The Comet EV is safe and robust inside and out. Equipped with a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, it uses prismatic cells that have passed 39 battery and automotive safety tests for long life. IP67 is certified and resistant to water and dust. All of this ensures maximum security in all conditions. High-strength bodywork with 17 hot-stamped plates makes the MG Comet EV strong and safe. Smart EV is equipped with industry-leading active and passive safety features such as Dual Front Airbags, ABS + EBD, and Front & Rear 3 airbags. Seat belts, rear camera, and sensors, TPMS (indirect), ISOFIX child seats.
Smart choice
Additionally, MG also announced two special editions of the Comet EV, the Gamer Edition and LIT Edition. It’s tailored to the personalities of the next generation of urban commuters, gaming and tech communities, and fashionistas. The MG Comet EV comes with multiple personalization options, including over 250 decal options, graphics, and more. This enhances smart EV fun and technical feel for diverse Generation Z customers.
MG Comet Pace
The base model is a variation of the MG Comet Pace. It features a Starlight Black interior, covered steel wheels, illuminated MG logos and chrome door handles inside and out. Other features include a 7-inch LCD screen that doubles as an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. The Pace variant also comes with remote central locks, power ORVM, power windows, manual HVAC system, and folding keys. Although it lacks the infotainment system and MG’s i-Smart connected car tech, it has other features not included in the two variants. However, it has two speakers and Bluetooth. The device has a 12-volt socket and three USB ports without fast charging capability. Safety features include dual airbags, IP67 battery, ABS + EBD, rear parking sensors, rear LED fog lights, follow-me-home headlights, and manual day/night IRMV. It also has ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
MG Comet Play
In addition to the above features, the Play variant of the MG Comet also features LED headlights and LED taillights, front and rear integrated lights, a Space Gray interior color scheme, a leather steering wheel, and a 10.25-inch LCD screen with touch technology infotainment. A screen is available, along with an Android wireless device. Over 55 connected car features powered by MG i-Smart and Auto and Apple CarPlay. 3 USB ports support fast charging. The car does not have a rearview camera or smart start.
MG Comet Plush
The top model, the Plush variant, offers everything the Play variant offers. The car also comes with a rearview camera and a smartphone-based digital key. It also has a smart start system that allows you to start by stepping on the brake lever twice.
