Mahindra BE 05

The BE.05 is Mahindra’s first dedicated electric vehicle offering and marks the debut of the brand Mahindra BE brand. This is Hyundai’s Creta-sized compact EV SUV that could compete with the Tata Avinya. Unlike all other Mahindra electric vehicles, it features a driver-oriented cabin layout. Sales are scheduled to start in October 2025. Mahindra’s upgraded INGLO platform is the basis for the BE 05, with rear-wheel drive (up to 285 hp) and all-wheel drive (up to 394 hp). The platform provides space for 60 kWh and 80 kWh battery packs with a WLTP range of up to 450 kilometers. Mahindra electric vehicles will use VW MEB components such as batteries and motors. 

Mahindra BE 07

The Mahindra BE.07 is a Harrier-style premium electric SUV with a sloping roofline for a sporty look. The dashboard has an integrated display across its width and accommodates three screens. The debut of the production-ready version is scheduled for October 2026. On the INGLO platform, the vehicle is fitted with 60kWh and 80kWh battery packs, the latter of which is said to enable it to travel up to 450km on a single charge. The updated platform is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, delivering up to 285 and 394 horsepower respectively. All upcoming Mahindra EVs use VW MEB platform components such as batteries and motors. 

Mahindra BE 09

The BE.09 is Mahindra’s flagship BE model and the company’s largest electric SUV. It could also be Mahindra’s global electric vehicle with the biggest battery, outstanding performance, and the latest technology. Based on Mahindra’s upgraded INGLO platform, the BE 09 offers a WLTP range of up to 450 kilometers. These upcoming Mahindra EVs will source components such as batteries and motors from the VW MEB platform.  

MG 4 EV

MG unveiled its fourth premium electric vehicle (EV) at Auto Expo 2023 in India to gauge customer reaction to the vehicle. The MG 4 competes with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, with a 450 km range. If brought to India, the price could be around Rs 300 crore (excluding showrooms).

For overseas markets, the MG 4 has two powertrain options with 51 kWh and 64 kWh battery packs. The standard 51kWh version has a powertrain of 170hp and 250Nm, delivering 0-100km/h acceleration in 7.7 seconds and a range of 350km. This long-range electric vehicle has a 204 hp powertrain and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The MG 4 EV features a 10.25-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, digital driver display, wireless phone support, in-vehicle tech, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. Safety features include driver assistance features such as six airbags, stability control (ESP), adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, and lane departure warning.

When the MG 4 EV launches on sale, it will compete with Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and BYD Atto 3 in India. 

MG 5 EV

MG announced the electric station wagon “MG5” at Auto Expo 2023.

The MG5 station wagon’s front design resembles its MG4 electric hatchback. It features details such as a closed grille connecting LED headlights, angular vents, and a charging port. The MG5 features 17-inch wheels, roof rails, and a distinctive shoulder line that runs the entire width of the vehicle. The MG5 rear is very conventional, with a wraparound taillight with Y-shaped LED elements connected via a chrome strip and a sculpted tailgate.

The MG5 features a stylish interior with details such as blue inserts on the dashboard, air conditioning vents, and turn signal lever edges. A striking, elevated aluminum center console houses a rotary selector and driving mode buttons. Other details include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with physical buttons and a digital driver display.

MG equips the MG5 station wagon with a 61.1kWh battery and claims a 402km cruising range. It drives a front-mounted electric motor that develops 156 hp and 256 Nm, enabling the electric estate car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The MG5 can be charged 10-80 percent in 35 minutes using a 150kW DC fast charger. 

Tata Altroz EV

The Altroz ​​EV was tested in India. It will be unveiled at Auto Expo 2020 and go on sale in late 2022. It will likely feature Tata’s Ziptron technology, such as the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. It could utilize the same set-up as the Nexon electric vehicle, combining a 129-horsepower electric motor with a 30.2 kWh battery. The system has an ARAI-specified range of 312km on a single charge.  

Jeep Avenger

Tata Avinya

Tata has unveiled its latest concept for its upcoming electric car, Avinya. The EV crossover is based on the company’s third-generation EV platform and has a 500km range. Scheduled for launch in 2025, the electric vehicle features a sleek design, spacious interior, and many high-tech features such as speakers in every seat, in-car voice command functionality, ADAS systems, and connected vehicle technology.

Avinya will be based on Tata’s dedicated electric vehicle platform. It has a cruising range of 500km or more and supports ultra-fast charging. Tata Avinya’s capabilities include various ADAS systems and connected vehicle technologies. All seats will likely also have voice recognition and surround sound music systems with dedicated speakers. In today’s market, Avinya will replace models such as the Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV.  

Mean Metal Azani

Indian car manufacturers including Mahindra and TATA come to mind. But a relatively new car company called Mean Metal Motors (MMM) is also trying to establish a name in the industry. The company is now ready to launch its first electric supercar called Azani. This four-wheeler draws 986 horsepower from an electric motor. The soon-to-be-commissioned vehicle can travel 550-700km on a single charge and accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than two seconds. Mean Metal Motors is an Indian automotive start-up company. MMM expects a major market entry with its Halo products and all-electric supercar Azani. The 22-member band takes a top-down approach to delivering high-quality yet affordable ‘Made in India’ electric vehicles.

Mean Metal Motors is the latest car company to enter the Indian car market soon. Mean Metal Motors has introduced its latest car in its India line-up called the Azani. The technical implementation of the vehicle, which is expected to reach a top speed of 350km/h, is due to be put into service in the second half of next year. When talking about MMM, Azani is a mix of panic and style.

The MMM Azani exhibits supercar aggression with a sharp front end. The overall design is accentuated by sharp, taut lines. It looks very stylish. The front fascia resembles it’s MMM logo. 

Haima Bird Electric EV1

FAV Haima made its debut at Auto Expo 2020, showcasing a range of cars in its pavilion. They include the debut of the Bird Electric EV1 hatchback. It is also called the Haima E1 in China. In addition, from 2022 it will also be sold in Indian showrooms. The silhouette resembles a hatchback such as the Wagon R and features a large touchscreen infotainment system with an all-digital instrument cluster. The safety set includes two airbags.

Two variants with 200 km and 300 km ranges are available. However, it will initially be a 200 km version. The electric motor produces 95 Nm of torque from a 20.42 kWh battery, giving the electric car a top speed of 120 km/h.

Booking is refundable for Rs 1,000. The price is expected to be around 100,000 rupees. When it comes on sale, it will compete with models like the Mahindra eKUV100 and Maruti Suzuki XL5 Electric.
