India’s first retrofitted electric light commercial vehicle launched by Etrio
India’s first retrofitting electric vehicle start-up Etrio has launched India’s first certified retrofitted electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV).

The company’s initiative to transform and electrify the intra-city logistics have made an innovation of a powerful eLCV which is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that provides a range of 120 km. The Hyderabad based startup Etrio Co-founder and CEO Deepak MV said that “We are proud to launch Etrio’s eLCV which through our scientific retro fitment process revives the earning of the driver owner by saving almost 60 per cent of the operational expenses and makes diesel guzzling LCV into a green productive vehicle.”
This initiative will not only re-shape the e-commerce logistics space but also have a deeper impact on the EV ecosystem, he said. “We have already received interest of over 1200 eLCV as we speak.”

While looking into the technical terms of the retrofitted electric light commercial vehicle it is equipped with a lithium-ion battery of 20 kWh on a 96 V system which provides a range of 120 km. Its motor power is 15kW and develops torque of 120 Nm and can handle a gradient of 7 degrees.
It has some key features such as a telematics app which gives information about the health metrics of vehicles and components, its safety features include geofencing, remote immobilization, delivers information via unique driver scorecards to get that efficient driving. The retrofitted e-LCV price starts at ₹7.75 lakh (on road-Delhi). This eLCV can compete in the marketplace with the other vehicles like diesel for a total cost of ownership.

The startup which churns out 5,000 such vehicles per annum could retrofit Light commercial vehicles such as Tata Ace as an electric one.
