Last month, President Joe Biden has signed an order targeting to make its all new passenger vehicles sold in 2030 as electric vehicles. The ‘Honda Prologue’ is being co-developed with General Motors and is based on the Detroit automaker’s Ultium platform. Both the companies are co-developing an electric Acura-brand SUV which will go on sale in 2024.

Based on the Honda developed e-Architecture, a new platform by Honda will introduce a series of electrified vehicles through 2030 and will assemble electric vehicles at Honda.

The executive vice president of national operations at American Honda Motor Dave Gardner said that the sales of the Prologue will initially be in California and then the other states like Texas and Florida. It plans to add hybrid-electric systems to more US models.

“Our strategy is focused on introducing a higher percentage of hybrids in core models in the near term, making a committed effort to achieve higher volume leading to the introduction of our Honda Prologue,” Gardner said.

In June, Honda had announced its first electric SUV ‘Prologue.’ This launch is part of Honda’s recently announced plan to switch to all zero-emission vehicles in North America by 2040. Dave Gardner, executive vice president of American Honda said “Our zero-emission focus has begun.”

Honda’s first electric SUV Prologue

The Honda’s first electric SUV Prologue will arrive in 2024 and is being developed in partnership with General Motors. General Motors will contribute to the company with its battery system. That vehicle will also be based on GM’s battery platform. The company has not yet revealed anything about the electric SUV. But Honda said that it will debut an electric SUV for its luxury Acura lineup in 2024.

It had also unveiled its prototypes, one is the CR electric dirt bike and the Benly e electric delivery scooter. Benly e electric scooter was spotted testing at the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) facility in Pune. It had made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019.

It had also announced that it will be importing an electric two-wheeler from China to test in India and we can expect the Honda Benly e could be the one. We believe Honda is testing its swappable battery system known as Honda Mobile Power Pack. The Benly Electric is equipped with the batteries from the PCX Electric maxi-scooter (a kind of delivery scooter).
