Hero Vida received a major price drop after the Ola reimbursement saga
  • Soon after Ola Electric’s refund announcement, Hero Vida V1 price dropped

  • Prices have dropped by up to Rs 25,000

Hero MotoCorp has launched an electric scooter under the Vida sub-brand. Two of its electric scooters are offered, the Vida V1 Pro and the V1 Plus. The brand is now announcing price cuts for two electric scooters, which will make the range more affordable.

The prices of both the Vida V1 and V1 Pro electric scooters have been reduced by a total of 25000 rupees and 19000 rupees, respectively. The former is currently priced at Rs 1.2 lakh while the latter is priced at Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices also include the FAME II promotion and a portable charger.

This price cut announcement comes days after Ola Electric announced that it would refund 130 million rupees to some of its customers because it sold them off-board chargers as accessories for their S1 Pro electric scooters in clear violation of the FAME program.

Many companies that manufacture electric vehicles (two-wheeled vehicles) are being investigated for violating FAME program guidelines. The Vida V1 e-scooter price revision has significantly reduced the purchase price compared to October 2022.

Previously, the Vida V1 e-scooter had a sticker price of Rs 1.45, while the V1 Pro was announced at Rs 1.59 lakh. Needless to say, this announcement will bring joy to customers planning to buy their own electric two-wheelers in India. However, the same holds true for previous buyers who have already invested heavily in these battery-powered two-wheelers.

The Vida V1 is one of the few electric two-wheelers that are available with a replaceable battery, and it is the only scooter in its segment that has this feature as well. This allows owners to charge their batteries anywhere, rather than traditional electric scooters with fixed batteries that only charge at specific locations.

The Vida V1 Plus has a 3.44kWh battery and claims a 143km range on a full charge. There is a larger 3.94kWh battery included in the Pro trim, which is the highest-end trim. The cruising range is 165km. In spite of the fact that the batteries are different, both scooters have the same electric motor that generates a peak power of 6kW, giving them a top speed of 80km/h.
