No charges for registration of EV

Yes, you read it right, you won’t need to pay anything for registration of electric vehicles (EV). As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway led by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Good news! No charges for registration of EV

The electric vehicles need not pay any chargers for road tax for vehicle registration. The existing electric vehicles need not pay renewal fees.

“The said draft rules shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of 30 days from the date on which the copies of this notification as published in the Gazette of India, are made available to the public,” the draft notification said.

The tax exemption is applicable to all vehicular category. As the Indian government’s policy think tank NITI Aayog decision and aim to bring in fully EVs on roads of India by 2030 to promote eco0friendly and sustainability.

In regard to this, the committee suggested that all vehicles below 150cc will be electrified.

No charges for registration of EV

It is preparing a framework to stop all the petrol and diesel vehicles in the country by 2030. It suggested the sale if only EVs will be allowed by 2030.

The government is taking many initiatives to bring electric vehicles in the country. As adoption of EVs will bring down the oil imports in India.

India spends thousands of crores to import oil and one more important reason is to reduce the emission levels in India.

Every year air pollution is rising, India ranks at 3rd position in terms of causing air pollution contributing 6.3% in 2018 whereas in China 4.7% and the US by 2.5%.
