GHMC to set up 50 Charging centres for EVs

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to set up 50 charging centres in the city to charge EVs.

The GHMC signed an MoU with the Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL) to set up the public charging centres at 50 places in the city.

Olectra-BYD

Earlier Olectra-BYD, the combined project of Olectra Greentech and BYD Auto Industry Company announced that its e-Buzz K9 electric buses have begun commercial operations under the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The duo planning to deploy 40 units of its 12-meter e-Buzz K9 electric buses in Hyderabad.

The remaining 35 electric buses shall be deployed later. These electric buses are manufactured in India by Olectra Greentech (Formerly Goldstone Infratech).

A subsidy of Rs 1 crore for each bus in Telangana

Under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India (FAME-I) scheme, the Department of Heavy Industry has issued a subsidy of Rs 1 crore for each bus in Telangana. The 12-meter air-conditioned low floor buses having a capacity of 39+1 seats will ply from different locations in Hyderabad to Hyderabad International Airport.

These e-Buzz k9 electric buses coming with Kneeling mechanism that supports specially-abled and senior citizens while boarding into or getting down from the bus.




Mechanical Specifications of eBuzz k9

The lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery deployed in this bus enables it to travel up to over 250 km in a single charge. It also has a regenerative braking system which enables the bus to regain a part of the kinetic energy which is lost while braking. The battery can be fully recharged in 4-5 hours.

How the eBuzz k9 buses contributing to the environment

Besides Hyderabad, the 12-meter variant, e-Buzz K9 has successfully completed its trial run in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chandigarh, Goa, Rajkot, etc. Olectra’s e-Buzz K6 was the first ‘Make in India’ electric bus which was exported to Nepal in June 2018. Olectra-BYD buses travelled more than 3,00,000 km on Indian roads. These electric buses reduced the emission of CO2 up to 320 tonnes till now. Thereby, they are contributing a lot to save the environment from pollution.
