PuREnergy startup story began in a Hostel 9 of IIT Bombay where the founders met for the first time to pursue their graduation. The futuristic electric vehicle sector brings them together in 2018 with a similar vision, a vision to become one of the leading EV startups in India. With that vision, they started their journey towards pure mobility.
Pure Electric Vehicles is an EV vertical of the company PuREnergy which is incubated out of IIT Hyderabad and also manufacturing high-performance lithium batteries.
The company is having a dedicated factory in a built-up area of 18,000 sqft for large scale manufacturing of electric vehicles. The company have strong technical support of IIT Hyderabad to carry out R&D and other activities.

PuREnergy founders
PuR Energy is Founded by Dr.Nishanth Dongari worked in Germany and moved to the UK under the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship and is currently working as Assistant Professor at IIT Hyderabad.
Dongari said, “We are also in close discussion with a few defence laboratories for our battery applications in tanks, missiles, and communication equipment. They need to work under harsh environmental conditions, reduce the weight by four times compared to lead-acid technology and deliver high discharge currents, which is to be achieved by doping of anodes and cathodes.”
The company’s Co-Founder and CEO is Rohit Vadera worked in Abu Dhabi in the oil and gas sector with leading global engineering firms. Subsequently, he moved back to India and obtained an MBA in Finance and Operations from Indian School of Business in 2016. Later he worked with Ostro Energy, a platform set up by Actis Capital for development of wind and solar plants.
PuREnergy electric vehicles
Coming to the startup’s electric vehicles products, they have four models such as Egnite, Etrance, Epluto, and Etron. The company wants to bring 10,000 electric vehicles on the road in this financial year.
The startup’s electric vehicles are well known for it is designed which meant to work in tougher environment conditions and equipped with light portable batteries that help for high pickups.
The startup also manufacturers lithium-ion batteries and has also collaborated with other EVs players to develop and supply high-voltage Li-ion batteries for three-wheelers and four-wheelers. It focuses on things like active cooling to make the batteries unit compatible with high-speed EVs.
