To promote the adoption of electric vehicles in India, the state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has issued a new tender to procure 1,000 electric cars. The electric cars will have a range of over 180 km as per ARAI and must have a warranty period of 3 years along with the 3 years of comprehensive.

The interested bidders can apply it by paying Rs 25,000 before February 28, 2020, 2:00 pm as the submission of applications last date and time is February 28, 2020, at 2:00 pm.

The earnest money deposited (EMD) will be Rs 2.1 crore for package-1 and Rs 70.6 lakhs for package-2. The package 1 includes 750 four-wheeled sedans with a standard three years warranty and comprehensive annual maintenance costs (AMC) for three years and in the package 2, 250 four-wheeled sedans with a standard six-year warranty and a comprehensive AMC for six years.




The scope of work includes designing, manufacturing, supplying and maintenance of the cars at the needed locations in India. There is also a benefit to the small and medium enterprises that they are exempted to pay the tender document fee and EMD.




Recently, EESL announced that it will install 75 EV Charging stations in Delhi. This initiative is a part of the Government’s vision to reduce carbon footprints.

According to the terms phrased in the MoU, SDMC and EESL shall jointly work to accelerate the adoption of e-mobility in Delhi by installing around 75 public charging stations in the SDMC area.

EESL is aiming to achieve the target of 175 GW renewable energy capacity by 2022 and having 40 per cent as Renewable Energy capacity in the total installed energy capacity by 2030.
