This latest delivery brings Tata Motors’ electric bus fleet to 1,000
As part of a larger order from Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to supply, maintain, and operate 1,500 air-conditioned electric buses over a period of 12 years, Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has supplied 400 Starbus electric buses via its subsidiary TML CV Mobility Solutions.
These zero-emission buses are designed on next-generation architecture, equipped with advanced features, and powered by advanced battery systems, according to the company. Within the National Capital Territory of Delhi, they provide a convenient, safe, and comfortable intra-city commute. By supplying over 1,000 e-buses across the country, Tata Motors has achieved a significant milestone.
The fleet of 400 electric buses was introduced and launched by Delhi Deputy Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on September 5. Other dignitaries present at the flag included Kailash Gahlot, Minister of Law, Revenue, Transport, Women and Children Development, Information Technology and Administrative Reform, Government of Delhi; Naresh Kumar, IAS, Delhi Government Chief of Staff; Ashish Kundra, Commissioner and Chief Secretary (Transport) Delhi Government and Ms. Shilpa Shinde, IAS, Managing Director, DTC.
Welcoming the addition of this quiet and zero-emission electric bus fleet, Ms. Shilpa Shinde, IAS, CEO of DTC, stated that DTC is committed to providing efficient trucking services, economical and reliable for the people of Delhi. With 400 electric buses added across the National Capital Territory, mass mobility will become safer, smarter, and greener. With easier accessibility, greater comfort, and convenience for passengers, these next-generation buses will also contribute to their collective effort to improve the city’s air quality.
In a statement, Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, President of TML CV Mobile Solutions, stated, their decades-long relationship with DTC has been strengthened with the introduction of these 400 electric buses. To seamlessly charge, maintain, and operate our fleet of electric buses, they have created advanced ecosystems in select depots in the Delhi National Capital Territory. To fulfill their aspiration of providing clean, sustainable, safe, comfortable, and comfortable public transport for Delhi, the company plans to provide 1,100 additional electric buses to DTC in phases convenient, and energy-saving.
With an all-electric drivetrain, the zero-emission Tata Starbus EV optimizes energy consumption, resulting in low power consumption and low operating costs. It offers features like easy boarding, comfortable seats, and driver-friendly operation. It is equipped with other features such as electronic stability control, electronic brake force distribution, air suspension, intelligent traffic system “ITS” and a panic button.
