The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) is working to set up a center of Excellence for e-mobility in Pune to provide facilities for developing, testing, validating and certification of electric vehicles, systems and components for electric vehicles. The senior deputy director of ARAI and ARAI Academy, KC Vora said that these labs will commence from October. As automotive OEM Companies looking forward towards the e-mobility and ecosystem.
Right from the industry research bodies to the engineering colleges and academia and all stakeholders working out to plan for the betterment of the e-mobility.
Center of excellence for e-mobility
As ARAI already does the testing and certifying of electric vehicles it said that it takes around a year to test and validate a vehicle said ARAI. The program has been launched in Pune to train engineers in e-mobility with industry and academia joining hands to nurture the skills.
There will be three academic institutes and it will be a post-graduate diploma program in electric mobility in association with the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).
3 colleges partnered with ARAI
The three colleges, College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Pune and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) launched the program partnering with the ARAI and automotive industry players Bajaj Auto, Kinetic Green, KPIT, Tata Motors, and Tata Autocomp Systems.
MCCIA
The MCCIA is responsible to create the program and bringing both the industries together.
CoEP and department of technology of the SPPU launched the post-graduate diploma course in e-mobility. The CoEP has signed an MoU with Altair, a technology company to launch a Centre of Excellence in Electric Mobility. This centre will help more than 60 engineers to work on similar electric mobility applications.
