Ather 340 & 450 electric scooters are eligible under the FAME II Subsidy. Ather Energy, a Bangalore based two-wheeler company has announced that its electric vehicles are eligible for the FAME-II (faster adoption and manufacture of electric vehicles) subsidy.

It will get the subsidy from the government for Ather 450 is around Rs.27,000. Ather Energy’s Ather 450 electric scooter’s on road price is Rs.1,28,230. After the subsidy, the Ather 450 will cost Rs.1.23 lakhs on road.

The company had already postponed the deliveries of the e-scooters so that the customers get the benefits of the subsidy.

FAME II scheme
The new FAME II scheme which commenced from 1st April has kept some norms and conditions such as an electric two-wheeler must have a top speed of at least 40 kmph, range of at least 80 km per full charge, must have Lithium-ion battery pack and should have 50% of local content.
Okinawa Electric Scooters
Recently Okinawa Electric Scooters also announced that its electric scooters are also eligible under the FAME II subsidy and is getting Rs 17-26k subsidy from the government.
With the norms of FAME II, it is very difficult for the other electric vehicle companies to get the subsidy from the government, under FAME I scheme around 5,000 units certified on an average every month.
Let us hope all the electric vehicles companies qualify under the FAME II scheme which will help India to grow as a green country and in the sales of EVs.
