The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has issued a tender, inviting bids firms for selection of bus operators for the supply, operation and maintenance of 100 electric buses in three cities.

These buses will be procured under the FAME II ( second phase of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) program. This will include supplying, operating and maintaining the buses for eight years or 600,000 kilometres whichever comes first.
It also includes the development, operation and maintenance of charging infrastructure for the buses in the districts of Guwahati, Silchar and Jorhat.
Last date of submission of bids
People interested are expected to pay an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 10 million.
The last date for the submission of bids is December 7, 2019. The techno-commercial bids The winner will be the lowest gross cost contract in terms of rupees per kilometre per bus.
In addition to this, the OEM vehicle manufacturer must have a manufacturing facility in India and must have experience in either electric or Diesel/CNG buses of 4 financial years including 2018-19.
The OEM must also have manufacture capacity of 100 electric buses. The bidder can either himself or through a sub-contractor, have the experience of setting up charging infrastructure for the electric buses.
Earlier to promote the clean mobility in public transportation, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) had announced that it will deploy 15 electric buses in the city under the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric vehicles) scheme. The buses that obtain by the ASTC will launch on Kachari-Kamakhya route and will make 5 to 6 trips per day. Two buses will run on two different routes from ISBT and Paltan Bazar.
