Haryana government working on EV policy to manufacture EVs
The government of Haryana is working out a policy to manufacture electric vehicles and convert petrol-diesel vehicles into electric vehicles in the state. With a step towards the promotion and adoption of electric vehicles in the state it has invited suggestions and after consultation with vehicle manufacturers and industry experts, deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala said. The official statement said Chautala conducted the meeting of senior officers of the Industries and Commerce Department and gave some necessary guidelines about the policy formulation.
The Deputy Chief Minister who is responsible for the Industries and Commerce Department said the State government has decided to formulate a policy to promote and adopt electric vehicles that are zero-emission vehicles. He also said that apart from the buying of new electric vehicles the existing ones will be replaced with electric vehicles at the end of their time.
It will be done in a phased manner and the charging infrastructure will be set up in every city. It has already started with the inauguration of the first charging station of the State in Panchkula. The charging stations will be built at the government offices and Board and Corporations and also in private locations.
Last year the Haryana Government outlined an incentive scheme to boost the auto sector in the state which aims to manufacture and create job opportunities. The government in its draft Estate Management Policy 2020 has proposed a slew of incentives for the sector which includes the development of the supplier parks, existing auto manufacturing units expansion. The state government will also incentivise the manufacturing of electric vehicles and green automotive technologies.
Haryana government announced budget for 2021-22
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced the budget for 2021-22, provisions were made to set up 93 MW of solar projects, among other renewable and e-mobility plans. To boost the eco-mobility in the state, Haryana aims to introduce 124 zero-emission fully electric buses in the state on a gross cost model.
A megaproject has been allotted ₹70.8 billion to a private company at IMT Sohna. The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation has allocated 178 acres of land for this project. The company plans to invest ₹70 billion over the next few years to supply batteries to electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and smartphone companies.
