Hindustan Zinc to introduce EVs for underground mining works
Hindustan Zinc (HZL) an Indian integrated mining and resources producer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Epiroc (Swedish manufacturer of mining and infrastructure equipment) for ‘Zero Emission and Sustainable Mining by introducing Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) for underground mining works.

Hindustan Zinc will become the first mining company in India to unveil electric vehicles in underground mines. The Epiroc develops and provides innovative and equipment, such as drill rigs, rock excavation and construction equipment and tools for underground applications.
The partnership will support HZL to look for more opportunities to introduce battery-operated vehicles in underground mines which will help to reduce carbon emissions and make mine operations eco-friendly.
