Electric 3 wheelers running on Indian roads: Etrio, Ape’ E-City & Neem-G electric

Electric three-wheelers segment seems to be developing day-by-day rapidly on the Indian roads. A Hyderabad based electric vehicle startup Etrio Automobiles Pvt Ltd has entered into the electric three-wheeler segment with its launch of new electric three-wheeler range of products under the brand name “Touro”.

The company aims to electrify intracity logistics by expanding its product portfolio. It caters to the cargo segment and the two new variants will be focused on intra-city logistics especially in last-mile delivery applications. To launch these electric vehicles the company in last month had raised the funds of 3 million USD.

The company said that the brand Touro is taken from the Portuguese word Toro which means a bull. The bull represents the products strong stability, powerful, immense load carrying capacity, relentless work ethic and intense focus. In short, the Touro is inspired with a bull and comes with a signature of the front grille and Etrio’s manufactured brake drums.

The company’s electric vehicles are 100% localised which means they are eligible for central and state government subsidy.

We have built a product that delivers top performance in terms of range and volumetric capacity coupled with robust safety and stability standards.”

The company’s electric three-wheelers have these features such as hydraulic brakes with regenerative braking, independent suspension, cloud-based vehicle tracking equipped with a driver mobile app among others. Etrio is working closely with its B2B customers like LetsTransport, Amazon, Big Basket, Ikea, etc.

The price of the Touro electric vehicles varies depending on the needs of the customers such as range, battery capacity, payload required, cubic capacity, etc. The Touro Max a Mini electric vehicles will be available on both sale and leasing options. The company’s leasing option will be provided to the organizations for orders of over 50 units over a three-year contract.  The company has a production capacity of 500 units per month.

Its electric vehicles are running on a pilot basis at leading e-commerce logistics companies in Hyderabad, Delhi, and Bangalore. In coming months the company will expand its footprints all over the country.

New Ape’ E-City launch in Thiruvananthapuram & Kozhikode market 

Apart from that Piaggio Vehicles has also launched its new electric vehicle, Ape’ E-City for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode market. Ape’ E-City comes with an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs. 198926 (Kerala) with a warranty of 36 months/ 1 lac km (Whichever is earlier) along with free scheduled maintenance for 3 years.

The new Ape’ E-City comes with various leading features such as advanced Li-ion batteries, automatic gearbox, superior power and torque, no gear and clutch, doors for safety, full digital cluster.

It is the first electric three-wheeler to have battery swapping options. It also has an app-enabled eco-system to check the battery state of charge, locate swap stations, recharge batteries instantly with no waiting time, etc.

While looking at its technical terms its top speed is 45 km/h and provides a range of 68 km. It has a powerful motor of 5.4 kW which powers a 4.5 kWh battery and produces a 29 NM of torque. Its batteries take 3 hours 50 minutes of time and it can be swapped in just 10 minutes.

Kerala’s Neem-G electric auto-rickshaws to run in Nepal 

‘Kerala Neem G’ auto-rickshaws from the public sector-run Kerala Automobiles Limited will run electric auto-rickshaws on roads in Nepal from November.

The first 25 electric vehicles were shipped from Kerala Automobiles Limited’s (KAL) plant at Aralumoodu, near Thiruvananthapuram. The two trucks will arrive with the consignment in Nepal in 12 days.

KAL has also received the order for more 8 electric autos from Nepal and will be shipped soon. The government of Nepal will procure this e-autos through Himalaya Motrrad Private Ltd. It is the first export for KAL for electric e-auto rickshaws by a public sector undertaking of a State. It aims for 500 electric autos in Nepal annually and plans are to export KAL’s e-auto to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Kenya.

The electric auto-rickshaws are being sold to Nepal for ₹2.85 lakh. It provides a range of 80 to 90 km on a full charge of three hours and 55 minutes. Its German technology battery can be charged using a three-pin plug.
