500km is “New Normal” range for electric vehicles says Musk

The Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk have named 300 miles or close to 500km as the “new normal” for electric vehicle range and the “standard expectation” of electric vehicle drivers. It has now confirmed two new electric cars that would make its way to roads after Cybertruck. It helps Tesla to maintain its complete dominance in the electric vehicles space. At current, the company is offering 643 kilometres of range through its popular models Tesla Model 3 to Model S.

Musk said that the company was working continuously with the partners to improve the battery cell and battery packs to make the cost lower which can boost the range of electric vehicles.

“With regard to passenger vehicles, I think the new normal for the range is going to be you know, approximately 300 miles,” Musk told.

“So I think people will really come to expect as normal, you know, that’s the standard expectation. Because you do need to take into account, you know, is it very hot outside, or is it cold, or are you driving up a tall mountain with a full load.

“People don’t want to get to their destination with 10 miles range. They want some reasonable margins. So I think 300 (miles), close to 300, is going to be the new normal. Close to 500km, basically.”

The company’s cybertruck is the biggest launch in the entire automotive industry which was first showcased to the world in November of 2019. It has now confirmed two new electric cars that would make its way to roads after Cybertruck. It helps Tesla to maintain its complete dominance in the electric vehicles space.

Last year, Tesla unveils all-electric Cybertruck at a Sci-Fi-style event in California on Thursday. This battery-powered Cybertruck would be able to drive in ranges from 250, 300 and 500 miles. The prices of the truck would range from $39,900 for the 250-mile range version, $49,900 for the 300-mile version and $69,900 for the 500-mile version. The production of the truck was set to begin in late 2021.
