There is a huge buzz going in India and it is all about the Electric Vehicles (EV) revolution. The electric vehicles era in India has begun. India is in the hunt for the development options, where electric vehicles are the prey. Almost 60% of states in India being a part of electric vehicles mission by giving subsidies to EV manufacturers. It is predicted that 50% of vehicles in India will be electric by 2030 and this number increased by 90% in 2050. So let us have a look at the advantages and disadvantages of electric vehicles in India.

For electric cars, we can full our own tanks. We don’t need to feel worried about the nearest petrol bunk to refill our fuel tanks. All we need is a household charger to charge our electric car. Plugin the car at night and enjoy the ride in the morning.

Less Fuel Cost for EVs

When compared to petrol and diesel, electricity is cheap in India. Hardly 1.5 to 2 Units of power will be utilized for a full charge. There are fluctuations in diesel prices but electricity prices are mostly constant.

Less Maintenance Cost for Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles are very easy to operate because of the simplified design. Most of the electric vehicles in India comes with a single driving mode which is very easy to handle. Electric vehicles can handle by housewives, senior citizens, and students also.

One Time Investment

The maintenance cost on Electric vehicles is almost negligible. All you need to do is a one-time investment on an electric vehicle to buy. There is no need for petrol and diesel, all you need is just one or two units of electricity to recharge your electric vehicle. Many EV automobile manufacturers designing their EVs to support household charging sockets.

No Licence and Registration Needed

The Indian government recently passed a law stating ‘No license is required for Electric vehicles’.This law is very useful for school and college students to unleash their excitement towards automobiles. If youngsters start using electric vehicles the pollution in India gets reduced automatically because 60% of the population in India are youth.

Range Constraints

Electric Vehicles are fixed for a specific range, they cant go beyond that. Most Electric vehicles can cover a range of 100KM. If someone wants to go for a long ride they need a backup battery. However, research is going on to improve the range of electric vehicles.

Charging Stations

In India, very few EV charging stations are available. Main Cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Banglore, and Hyderabad have charging stations. Some thousands of charging stations should be set up all around the country to reduce the scarcity of recharging stations.
