As the world is going through the crisis situation due to COVID-19 pandemic but we Indians have solutions to every problem. Indians are popular for the word jugaad (a flexible approach to solve a problem by using limited resources in an innovative way), it has got actual meaning in this lockdown.

The Coronavirus lockdown has given rise to many ideas and innovations among the people of India. As it is locked down all over India public transportation has become difficult for the people. Some cities are getting relaxation and some public transportation is being allowed and there is fear in people’s mind about the virus.

As social distancing is mandatory and travelling in public transportation imagination has ended up some amazing innovations such as a modified e-rickshaw and a COVID-19 e-bike. COVID-19

Here is the first innovation or jugaad is a modified e-rickshaw. It is said to be the most eye-catchy e-rickshaw that has drawn attention from many people. The interesting fact about this e-rickshaw is that you can see the sitting area was divided into four different chambers which separate all four passengers from each other.

This is an idea to follow and maintain social distancing while travelling. The idea also impressed Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group and he appreciated the driver’s efforts through twitter.

COVID-19 e-bike

The second innovation is COVID-19 e-bike. A man from Agartala, Tripura designed an electric motorcycle to highlight the importance of social distancing. The bike has a one-metre gap between the rider and pillion rider and is designed by Partha Saha to take his daughter to school. Instead of using public transport or bus he will pick and drop his daughter once the educational institutions reopen on this e-bike.

Coming to the vehicle’s technical terms, we dont have complete details but it consists of a chassis taken from an ICE (internal combustion engine ) based vehicle and stretched to accommodate two passengers, sitting one metre apart. This electric bike uses an electric powertrain that can give a maximum range of 80 km per charge.

In this crisis situation also Indians will anyhow find a way for the solutions. We can’t stop appreciating them, these are truly an Indian jugaad.
