An EV charger startup, Magenta Power which is supported by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited announced that it is planned to introduced a street lamp EV charger called ‘ChargeGrid Flare’ by April 2020.
These chargers will be the first EV charging points in India which is included in the street lamp columns.

The ChargerGrid Flare manufacturer has said that it is mainly designed with the partnership of HPCL to provide energy-efficient street light combined with a EV charging stations. These charging stations are unique as it looks like a traditional street light.
This EV chargers will be first installed at the HPCL retail outlets in major cities across India in its first stage.
This chargers will be particularly installed at the new and existing car parking areas, street/corporate parking environments and retail outlets.
These chargers can be installed very easily and can be find using the ChargeGrid app.

Earlier, the Hindustan Petroleum Corp an Indian oil refiner announced a pilot program for swapping batteries for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers at its outlets by December.

“We are delighted to be adding ChargeGrid Flare to our already extensive portfolio of EV charging solutions. Understanding the existing EV Challenges, what we are aiming to do is, instead of getting the car parked next to a charging station we bring the charging station to where the car is parked,”

“This product is made specifically for India with low footprint and power situations. With ChargeGrid Flare, we can build a dense and convenient EV charging infrastructure at low cost, with less clutter to the existing city landscape,” said Maxson Lewis, Director, Magenta Power during the launch.
This new initiative was launched at the HPCL’s Annual Regional Managers’ Conference 2020.
