With the increase in production of electric vehicles, the global automakers have implied certain sound themes to make them unique. In the same way, Suzuki uses the sound of a jet aircraft for its upcoming EV. For that, Suzuki has applied for patent rights.
Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) applied for the patent rights for its upcoming EV’s running sound in relation to a certain type of automobiles. The sound of a jet aircraft could be used for the electric vehicle, as manufacturers tend to operate the electric vehicles in a different manner to notify pedestrians or passerby that they are on their way.
For more than a year, under a pilot project based on the JDM-spec Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has been testing its first EV for India with 50 prototypes to understand the difference in surfaces and climatic conditions prevailing across the country.
“It was estimated to cost around Rs. 12 lakhs. EV is a work in progress for us. We will not launch the Wagon R EV for commercial public use in 2020,” MSIL’s Chairman R C Bhargava said. He cited the lack of availability of incentives that results in high price tag and charging infrastructure to launch the Wagon R EV for mass-market customers.
A report came out in October 2019 suggested that Suzuki in partnership with Toyota will bring in new compact battery electric vehicles (BEVs) into the fray in the near future, in India. It will be launched at an early stage. MSIL will increase its supply of vehicles to Toyota which will be rebadged and sold under its own roof.
