Delhi government declares Null VAT on electric vehicles
The government of Delhi has decided to give direct subsidies to buyers of electric cars and scooters. Customers will also get the benefits of zero VAT and 50% reduction in road tax for buying these non-polluting vehicles.
The government offers a subsidy of 15 percent for the purchase of electric scooters and cars in the capital. Subsidies will be directly transferred to the buyer’s bank account within 2 months from the date of buying the electric vehicle.
Currently,45000 customers of electric scooters have benefited from the scheme and found their two-wheelers 60 percent cheaper to run, 70 percent simpler to upkeep and of course 90 percent less polluting as compared to petrol scooters.
