To fight with the haunting problem of environmental pollution, the government of Punjab has partnered with the World Economic Forum (WEF). On the account of the partnership, WEF to design a pilot on shared electric mobility for Punjab.

The state has chosen for the pilot by WEF to support the adoption of electric vehicles. The pilot will study how Public and Private sectors can interrelate to provide the most sophisticated and successful EV ecosystem.  This study will help in developing a blueprint for EV transition across cities and countries worldwide.

This collaboration is one of the remarkable initiatives being taken by the state government, to transform Punjab’s transport system into a greener one. The state has recently banned new registrations of diesel and petrol 3 wheelers in 5 districts, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib.

The state is also providing the support for setting up of EV Battery units in the new industrial park located over 380 acres in Dhanansu village of Ludhiana district.

An India’s first Auto Shredding Plant is also on cards to set up in Punjab, with capacity to handle two lakh cars per annum in an 8- hour shift. The plant has been built up in technical collaboration with German technology.

The Progressive Punjab Investors Summit (PPIS) 2019 which will be going to take place soon, will see e-mobility as a key subject of discussion. Many prominent dignitaries from automobile, e-mobility and research institutions participating in the summit.

Key delegates from Volvo Group, Virgin Hyperloop One, Mahindra Electric and Hero Electric, SML Isuzu, Hella India Lighting Limited, among others, will grace the session to trace all the possible opportunities that prevail in Punjab to be well placed in the global value chain in e-mobility.
